Over the years and through hard-fought legislation, paid sick leave laws in some states have allowed Workers to use their earned sick leave to not only cover their own illness but also to care for a loved one. TWU Local 556 has been active at the Local level and working with TWU International through the various State Conferences to have these laws cover Southwest Airlines Flight Attendants based in cities or states with paid sick leave laws.
This morning, Monday, March 3, 2025, around 0745 Local Time, there was a power outage at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). Due to this outage, KCM, TSA, and other systems necessary to operate the airport are down. With that said, no flights are landing or departing at this time. Any flights that are pushed are on the runways waiting to be cleared. Unfortunately, they can not return to the gate due to the lack of power to the jetways.
