Tropical Storm Francine is moving through the Gulf of Mexico. Francine is expected to intensify into a Category 2 hurricane before making landfall along the Louisiana coast on Wednesday. Forecasts can change, as we recently witnessed when Beryl was predicted to hit South Texas but made landfall in Houston instead. Effects from Francine may be seen as early as tomorrow.

I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend, and if you worked, I hope you enjoyed the new double-time holiday pay. While the true significance of Labor Day is often overlooked, it’s a good reminder of how fortunate we are to be Union Members. Originally established to address issues like long working hours and lack of time off, Labor Day today is more commonly seen as the end of summer and the start of the school year. With the conclusion of summer flying, we are beginning to see a slight reduction in flights. I’m pleased to share that Southwest has announced internal Flight Attendant applications will open soon to help fill some of the recent attrition.
