Fast Fact Friday #27 (Open Time Trading)

One of the greatest parts of our Contract is the flexibility it allows us with our schedules. Using Open Time to trade assignments or move the days we work is just one way we can “work” our schedules to best match our individual work-life balance. However, trading with Open Time has some restrictions we must be aware of. Let’s break down trading with Open Time in this week’s Fast Fact Friday!

Catching Up With 556, March 2025

Spring has officially arrived—and with it, a sense of renewal and momentum for TWU Local 556.

In nature, Spring is a season of growth and energy returning after a long winter. For our Union, this season mirrors the moment. We’ve welcomed a new President, a new 1st Vice President, and a new Treasurer. They each bring a blend of fresh perspectives, experience from seasons past, and a commitment to serving our Members. Change like this allows us to refocus and move forward with a renewed sense of optimism and purpose.

When Will I See My New Pay Premiums?

Your TWU Local 556 Reschedule, Research and Analysis Committee (RAC) has remained busy fielding your pairing-related pay questions. Thank you for waiting until your pairing is marked Audit Complete before reaching out and corresponding via a non-WNCO account. We wanted to bring you a brief update on some of the new pay elements for Contract 2024, along with a new Payroll Tip of the Month.

Addie L. Wyatt: A Force in Labor and Civil Rights

Addie L. Wyatt wasn’t just a Labor Leader—she was a revolution wrapped in grit, determination, and a deep sense of justice. Born in 1924 in Mississippi and raised in Chicago, she turned a life shaped by discrimination into a relentless fight for equality. She didn’t ask for a seat at the table—she built the table and demanded everyone get a fair share.

Fast Fact Friday: Senior Pay

Earlier this week, the Southwest Airlines Implementation Team deployed the last automated pay elements in accordance with Contract 2024. Effective March 8, 2025, Late Return Override (LRO) and Last Day Late Premium (LDLP) will no longer be added to your compensation through a manual audit. While it took a little longer to automate these two premiums, we are excited to finally have our new contractual premiums, which are paid above RIGs, applied to our pay as intended.

Town Hall Meeting Reminder

The first TWU Local 556 Virtual Town Hall for 2025 will be held today at 1100 Central Time. Town Hall Meetings are not official Membership Meetings, and no official Union Business will occur.
