Chicago Meeting Cancellation, Other Reminders

As previously announced, we planned to meet in Chicago on March 11, 2025.

However, due to a last-minute family emergency, this meeting has been postponed to a later date. I appreciate your understanding, and I will provide an update as soon as a new date is confirmed.

International Women’s Day – A Call to Make a Difference

For over a century, IWD has been a powerful reminder of the incredible contributions made by women and their persistence to turn obstacles into change in every aspect of life. It’s a day to celebrate women’s achievements, recognize their struggles, and advocate for gender equality. Women have shaped our world in countless ways—as everyday heroes, trailblazing leaders, and innovators. Born from the labor movements of the early 1900s, IWD has evolved into a worldwide movement owned by everyone who believes that women’s rights are human rights.

Automated Pay Elements, Daylight Savings Time, and more…

Spring is almost here (allegedly)! With spring comes seasonal allergies, Spring Break, and the introduction of more weather disturbances, including thunderstorms, flash floods, and tornadoes. This week’s Education Committee Fast Fact Friday (FFF) empowers our Members with contractual reminders about when the operation goes awry and Flight Attendants experience unscheduled overnights or being stranded. Contract 2024 introduced new language, so while we work our way into warmer weather (again, allegedly), let’s make sure we know all options afforded in our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Also included in this email are updates and reminders pertinent to our everyday lives, both at work and home.

Fast Fact Friday #24 (Unscheduled RON/ Stranded)

When IROPs occur and you don’t get back to domicile as anticipated, we have language in our Contract intended to protect your time (on duty and scheduled off) and compensation. This language was enhanced and improved upon in Contract 2024 to provide more options and further protect our time. Here’s a few important points to know for when/if you are ever stranded or sent on an unscheduled overnight.

Your Union Leaders, along with Grievance Leaders and Negotiators, met with the Southwest Inflight Crew Planning Leadership Team to discuss pairing generation.

Dolores Huerta: The Fighter Who Refused to Be Overlooked

Dolores Huerta doesn’t just belong in history books—she should headline them. Co-founder of the United Farm Workers (UFW), she’s the strategist, negotiator, and voice behind Sí, se puede—”Yes, we can.” The labor rights movement wouldn’t have been the same without her vision and willingness to fight for those who couldn’t fight for themselves.
