With the school year coming to an end across the country, families will begin their summer break. Summer means warmer weather, vacations, and full airplanes of travelers visiting places on their time off. For us, those warmer temperatures bring challenges with the weather, challenges on the aircraft, and challenges for our commuters attempting to get to work. Our TWU Local 556 Education Committee has compiled hot topics of the season to keep your sweating to a minimum during the busiest travel time for our Airline.

With summer travel comes full planes. Add in the commencement of checked bag fees, and the likelihood of full overhead bins and gate-checked bags increases exponentially. With all these factors on the horizon, our TWU Local 556 Education Committee wanted to take the opportunity to highlight the language in our Contract that protects us regarding an injury on duty. We also want to cover our responsibilities on the aircraft when we have bags to be checked at the gate. Let’s take a look at the resources available to ensure you are covered during these busy travel months this summer.
