With the new Shifted Reserve System right around the corner, we have a few important questions to cover before January 1st. One significant improvement with the new Shifted System is the ability for three of the Reserve Shifts to commute into domicile on the first day of their Reserve Block. Let’s debrief on some key subjects before the new Reserve System takes effect.
With the new Shifted Reserve System, we may need to do a little more preparation (aka math *sigh*) than normal to check what is, or is not, legal when it comes to Open Time. Using the tools in CrewView/CWA to “check” legalities will assist you when the clock ticks to 2200 Local Base Time. Let’s “shift” gears and learn about Trip Trade, Give Away and Blocking with our *New* Reserve Shifts! The new shifts means there will be new legal combinations for those of you who love to “block” your Reserve days. On December 19, In-Base TT/GA opens up, and with that will be a new set of rules of what Reserve type is compatible with other Reserve types. With all FIVE shifted Reserve types (SAR, SPR, JAR, JPR and JLR), know that you can always combine the same type (i.e., SAR + SAR). SAR and JAR are the most compatible, with JLR being the most restrictive (when it’s the first of the blocked Reserve assignments). After many months of work and preparation, the new Reserve shifted system is finally ready to be implemented. Secondary Bidding for January 2025 will be open from 1200 Central Time today, December 11, 2024, until 1200 Central Time on December 14, 2024.
